Is NPTEL course free?
All courses are completely free to enrol and learn from. The certification exam is optional and comes at a fee of Rs 1000/course exam. Certification process: NPTEL began the initiative of offering certification to students for courses in March 2014.

Is NPTEL certificate valuable?
Seventy-five per cent to 80 per cent of the enrolment happens through our NPTEL local chapters. We found that students find value in taking NPTEL courses since the certification is offered by the IITs if they clear an in-person proctored exam.

How is learning done in NOC home-NPTEL?
Learning can be done by watching videos and this is tested by the weekly assignments, that are to be submitted online within the prescribed deadline. Any queries/doubts you may have, you can post in the respective discussion forum, which will be answered by the faculty and his/her team.
Do you have to appear in person for NPTEL exam?
The learner has to be present in person for the exam and currently exams are conducted only in India in about 130+ cities in two shifts. Learner has to appear at the designated exam centre to participate in the exam, where his/her id is verified. 25% of the final marks comes from the Assignments and 75% from the final exam.
