SnapLock creates non-modifiable and non-erasable volumes to prevent files from being altered or deleted until a set retention date.
Is there a way to migrate from SnapLock to ONTAP?
You can use the Copy-Based Transition (CBT) feature of the 7-Mode Transition Tool to migrate SnapLock volumes from 7-Mode to ONTAP. The SnapLock mode of the destination volume, Compliance or Enterprise, must match the SnapLock mode of the source volume. You cannot use Copy-Free Transition (CFT) to migrate SnapLock volumes.
What happens to data stored in SnapLock Enterprise?
Data stored on SnapLock enterprise volume cannot be altered or modified. Data stored is not for strict regulatory compliance. Also the SnapLock enterprise data can be destroyed by administrator with root privileges on storage system that hosts the SnapLock enterprise volume prior to the end of the retention period.
