Can you run on the Thames Path?
The section of the Thames Path that runs adjacent to Bishops Park remains closed to cyclists at all times – with no running between 10am and 6pm.
How many days does it take to walk the Thames Path?
The Trail is 184 miles (294 Km) long. As a guide, using roughly 15 miles/24 Km a day as an average daily walking distance, the Trail can be completed in 14 days allowing for a couple of days’ rest.
Where does the Thames Path start and finish?
The walk starts at the source in Kemble and ends at the Thames Barrier just after Greenwich. We have divided the route into four sections so you can complete the route over a few holidays if you don’t have the time to walk it in one go. The Thames starts as a small trickle just outside Kemble.
How far can you run along the Thames?

Of course, the Thames Path extends well beyond London – it follows the river for 184 miles from source to sea – and only about a quarter is within the city’s boundaries. To walk the whole route takes two weeks, but the London section can be done in a few days.

Between west London to the end of the route at the Thames Barrier in Greenwich, look out for the Thames Path National Trail symbol. Beyond the Thames Barrier, the route is way-marked with the Thames Barge Symbol. This 79.5 mile (128km) route is divided into four sections on both the North and South Bank:
Which is the best way to run from the Thames?
The best connection from the Thames to the Royal Parks is at Westminster Bridge (Big Ben), which is a few blocks from St. James Park, and 0.7 miles from Buckingham Palace. Short Option, 3.4 miles: Start at Big Ben, run on north side, cross Jubilee Bridge, run on south side to Millennium Bridge, cross back to north side, and return.
Is the Thames Path off road or off road?
Following final negotiations with landowners, the Thames Path National Trail has a new route between Upper Inglesham and Inglesham open for Public Use. Please Note the Thames Path no longer follows the verge of the A361. The Trail is off road and mostly follows the river, with new signage, gates and bridges installed along the route.
