US Legal Permanent Residents or Green Card holders for more than 15 years living in the United States can take the citizenship test in Spanish or their preferred language. The goal is to help Permanent Residents qualify for citizenship to take the test even if they are not fluent in the English language.
How many questions can you miss on the US citizenship test?
The actual civics test is NOT a multiple choice test. During the naturalization interview, a USCIS officer will ask you up to 10 questions from the list of 100 questions in English. You must answer correctly 6 of the 10 questions to pass the civics test.
What happens if you fail the citizenship test twice?
If you fail either test a second time, your request for naturalization will be denied. If you are denied naturalization, you will receive a written notice in the mail. You will receive instructions on how to proceed if you want to appeal the denial.

When do USCIS offer the 2008 civics test?
Please note that beginning on April 19, 2021, USCIS will only offer the 2008 civics test at the initial interview appointment regardless of filing date.
